Volunteering

In order to serve low income, homeless, or otherwise disadvantaged Calgarians, Calgary Legal Guidance relies on volunteers. CLG has volunteer opportunities for individuals with and without a background in the legal profession.

Lawyers (regardless of legal specialty)
CLG's volunteers come from all different areas of law and levels of experience, from senior members of the Bar to articling students. No specific area of expertise is required to volunteer at CLG. For example, approximately one third of our volunteers come from large firms and practice in areas of law not seen at CLG, such as securities, oil and gas, and corporate litigation. The only requirements for volunteering are a desire to help those less fortunate and membership in the Law Society of Alberta.

Non-lawyers
CLG relies on individuals with a variety of backgrounds to assist with tasks relating to public educational presentations, clerical, reception, fundraising, special events, translation, and other activities.
