Legal Clinics

Calgary Legal Guidance offers free and confidential legal advice at evening clinics and outreach clinics to low income Calgarians who do not qualify for Legal Aid. In particular, Calgary Legal Guidance provides those facing cultural, financial or other kinds of barriers:
  • evening legal clinics and outreach at the downtown CLG office or at other agencies and educational institutions around Calgary
  • assistance on a variety of legal issues at these venues
  • legal advice, information and referrals in a community setting where clients feel more comfortable

Evening Clinics

Evening clinics are held most Monday-Thursday evenings. To schedule an appointment at our evening clinics please call our office (403-234-9266) during daytime business hours.

Outreach Clinics

Eastside Family Clinic
On the second Tuesday evening of every month volunteer lawyers staff the clinic at the Eastside Family Centre, a walk-in counselling service in Marlborough run by Wood’s Homes. This agency offers family counselling services and often finds that clients also need legal advice. For booking information call 403-299-9696.

Calgary Immigrant Women’s Association (CIWA)
A clinic is held at the CIWA offices Wednesday evenings, featuring immigration law and family law. New immigrants are much more comfortable seeing a lawyer at an immigrant agency. CIWA is able to provide interpreters to ensure that clients receive the best service possible. CIWA is located at 200-138 4 AVE SW. For booking information call 403-263-4414.

Calgary Chinese Community Services Association (CCCSA)

Mount Royal College
CLG volunteer lawyers facilitate a legal clinic at Mount Royal College in the Peer Support Centre. The clinic runs every fourth Wednesday of the month during the school year. Call the peer Support Centre at 403-240-6269 for information.

North Central Community Resource Centre
This clinic operates on the second Wednesday of the month offering support to residence in the north central area of Calgary. Contact information can be found on their website.

Do Your Own Divorce Clinics

The Do Your Own Divorce Clinics are a follow-up service offered to CLG clients who first come to the evening clinics looking for information about the divorce process.  If the parties have been separated for more than one year, and if there is an agreement as to property division and child custody/access, clients are able to complete an uncontested divorce themselves for under $300.00.  We bring 8 - 10 clients together for an evening session with a family law practitioner and walk them through the divorce process with a complete set of draft divorce forms.  The clients then go home with a copy of the CLG “how-to” manual to complete the good copy of the forms themselves.  Our staff remains available to answer questions as the clients go through the process.
